Produces 250 hp and 360 Nm of torque.

As its market launch nears (early next year as told to Indian Autos Blog by company sources), DC Design have released the slogan of the Avanti, which is billed as India’s first sportscar. ‘Feel Alive’ is the tagline of the car, which will cost about INR 38-40 lakhs, ex-Showroom, for new customers.

Power for the Avanti comes from a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged unit (which is likely a Ford EcoBoost) that produces 250 hp and 360 Nm of torque. The mid-engined car gets a 6-speed manual transmission driving its rear wheels.

Specifications wise, the Avanti measures 4,550 mm in length, 1,965 mm in width, 1,200 mm in height and 2,700 mm in wheelbase. Sporting 20-inch alloy wheels, the Avanti is shod with 255/35 tyres at the front and meatier 295/30 tyres at the rear.

Weighing 1,580 kg, DC says that the Avanti’s body is made from a carbon composite, and that it uses a spaceframe chassis with a rollcage. The suspension is a double wishbone setup for the front and rear, and the ground clearance is 170 mm. A total of 10 colors are available for the Avanti.

Company sources told Indian Autos Blog that the first batch of 500 units are sold out, and that deliveries are expected to start next year. The price for the launch customers was INR 34.93 lakhs, ex-Showroom.

Ferrari 488 GTB Launched in India; Priced at Rs: 3.88 Crore.

Italian marque Ferrari has launched its 458 Italia successor in India today called the Ferrari 488 GTB. The 488 has been priced at 3.88 crore (ex-showroom, Delhi) and is now available to purchase from Ferrari dealerships across the country.
After having made some famous cars over its illustrious past, the Prancing Horse began a new chapter in its life with the 488 GTB. At first glance, it doesn't even look like an all-new car as it bears a strong resemblance to the model it replaces. However it's important to note that besides a few borrowed bits here and there, the most visible of which is the 458's roof which has been carried forwards, the car is 85 per cent new and has been designed to obtain even better aerodynamic efficiency.

However, this isn't the main reason why this car is considered unique.

Ferrari 488 GTB Side and Rear Profile
The biggest difference seen on this new Ferrari is the use of a turbocharged V8 engine. The Italian supercar maker has never been one for turbochargers as most of its offerings featured naturally aspirated V8s. However the engineers at Ferrari have stated that during the design phase of the car, importance was given to making sure that the turbocharged engine felt like it was naturally aspirated.

Despite looking quite similar to the 458, the almost entirely new 488 GTB boasts of a staggering 50 per cent more downforce thanks to its F1 inspired front double spoiler and aero -pillar combination that helps in diverting air quickly and efficiently. The underbody too has been remodeled and now features vortex generators that almost suck the car onto the road.

On the inside, its minimalist cabin comes with lots of carbon fibre, contrast stitching and coloured leather options. The car retains the F1-style steering wheel which includes Ferrari's now famous Manettino drive mode selector.

Ferrari 488 GTB Interiors

The car is powered by the new F154 engine which is shared by the Ferrari family and some Maseratis as well. The 3.9-litre turbocharged V8 fitted in the 488 GTB makes 670bhp and 760Nm of torque. Peak torque only arrives in the 7th gear as the engineers said that the car wouldn't sound as nice if they offered that extra power in lower gears even though it might make it even faster.

Nevertheless, speed is not a concern as the Ferrari 488 GTB can do a 0 to 100Kmph sprint in 3 seconds and can go on to a top speed of 330Kmph. The 7-speed F1 dual clutch gearbox artificially reduces torque at lower revs while the Variable Torque Management provides an increasing amount of torque up the gears for great acceleration.

AUDI R8 V10

Oh Audi, what have you done? The new Audi R8 doesn’t so much arrive with a bang as a carpet-bombing – while we all sort of knew the original was a cut-price Lamborghini Gallardo, presenting it as a V8 initially established such clean air between them that the later introduction of increasingly focused V10 variants never really threatened the established hegemony. Not this time.
Imagine being a fly on the wall when Ingolstadt told Sant’Agata that it would be launching the R8 MkII with the same 602bhp output as the Huracan, charging less for it and including more tech. Publically we’re sure Lamborghini will say the image gulf between the two brands is so vast as to make the situation utterly irrelevant, and perhaps that’s true. But the point is that the R8 V10 Plus is not really a 911 rival any more – if it ever really was.

Audi hasn’t exactly gone to town on the styling, has it?

From the outside, it’s best described as ‘evolutionary’ – hardly a surprise, and hardly something that’s ever done the 911 any harm. Some may complain that the form isn’t as pure as the original, but the taut lines and exaggerated width (really only 11mm greater than before) do amp up its rear view mirror presence. The new R8 is more aggressive, more serious somehow, and from the driver’s seat the way the shoulder lines now divide the ‘side blade’ air intakes to flow uninterrupted until they reach the rear-wheel arches looks sensationally purposeful in the door mirrors.
Under the skin the hand-welded aluminium spaceframe is now enhanced with a carbonfibre centre tunnel, firewall and B-pillars, making it 40% stiffer but 15% lighter. You can feel the difference in the way the car responds to both your own inputs and the road surface. Audi also says the road car shares 50% of its components with the new R8 LMS racing car; the two were developed in parallel this time around. Proof of capability came with victory in the LMS’s inaugural assault on the Nürburgring 24 hours in May 2015.

How do you tell the difference between the regular R8 V10 and the V10 Plus?

Oh, that’s easy – look for the fixed carbonfibre rear wing, which replaces the pop-up aerofoil on the regular V10. The Plus also gets matching carbonfibre door mirrors, side blades and diffuser, and once closer you’ll spot the standard carbon-ceramic brakes.
Together with forged rather than cast 19-inch alloy wheels (the 20s are optional) and shell-backed bucket seats, these bits help make the Plus 40kg lighter while further justifying the price difference. £15k for all this, some extra kit, closer gear ratios and that additional 69bhp? No-brainer, surely.
